Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions...

Q. What advantages do you have as a copywriter?

A. I've been in sales and marketing in one form or another since 1988, from finance to large scale I. T. implementations. So simple or complex, I think from a selling perspective and readily understand the customer mindset.

Q. Can you write for projects of a technical nature?

A. Yes, I spent many years in the I. T. industry and can get my head around most technical subjects. My I. T. experience is quite varied as well which enables me to translate complex subjects into simple terms clearly and concisely.

Q. How much notice do you need before a deadline?

A. Ideally, at least 3 weeks. However rush jobs are a fact of life and I am always happy to work with you on tight deadlines where I can. Just let me know.

Q. When can I expect my work completed?

A. It depends on the size and complexity of the project. I like to take 2 to 3 weeks so that I can return to your piece and polish it periodically. If timescales are tight, let me know as soon as possible and I'll try to accommodate you.

Q. How do you charge?

A. I like to work on a flat fee basis with everything agreed in advance. I'll normally include at least one meeting and two rounds of revisions within the price. Of course requirements can change midway through a project, in which case we can renegotiate. For projects that are less definable at the outset I can charge by the hour if you prefer.

Q. What are your terms of business?

A. You can get a copy of my terms of engagement here.

You're British but based in Cape Town, do you only work for clients in South Africa?

A. Not at all. Communication is so accessible these days that I can work with you via telephone, email and video-conferencing from anywhere in the world. I also travel to the U. K. regularly and am able to meet with clients there when required.

Q. What is your background?

A. Pretty varied actually. I have worked in various areas of Sales and Marketing in industries such as I. T., Life Insurance, Finance and Real Estate. I have also acted as a professional intermediary arranging loan and equity finance as well as mergers and acquisitions. I've trained as a counsellor, did my apprenticeship as an electrician, have travelled extensively and I sold the world's most powerful commercial web server in 1999.
